
Year End Evaluations
UVM conducted an external evaluation at the end of the first pilot year of implementing YATST. Dr. John Downes was the researcher and has extensive experience in student voice research and practices. It is entitled "Interim Evaluation" due to the two year action research cycle of a YATST school.
Matthew Goldwasser Ph.D. conducted the second year evaluation. Matthew is the author of "A Guide to Facilitating Action Research for Youth" (May 2004) and has spent most of his professional career as a youth-adult partnership advocate. He resides in Chicago and is a professional evaluator and educational consultant.
Dick Corbett Ph.D. conducted interviews with 22 YATST youth members at the end of the 2011 school year, and then again at the end of the 2012 academic year. Dick is an independent educational researcher, who obtained his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, with an emphasis in the sociology of education. He has numerous publications, including his last book entitled, "Listening to Urban Kids: School Reform and the Teachers They Want" (Bruce Wilson co-author).
Dr. Dana Mitra of Pennsylvania State University, and research assistant Catharine Biddle, completed a comprehensive 2011-12 YATST evaluation (YATST Evaluation Year 4). Dana is a nationally recognized youth-adult partnership researcher and advocate, with extensive publications in this domain.
